Develop an independent microbiology research program that seeks funding possibilities and provides undergraduates and graduate students with research opportunities.
Participate in the administration of the Food Science Technology Program.
Continued Professional Development.
Contribute to student growth through academic advising and mentoring student research projects.
Provide service to the University and Community through but not limited to participation in departmental and college committees as appropriate.
PhD in microbiology, or a PhD in a biological science with graduate coursework and dissertation research in microbiology. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
Research interest in an applied field of microbiology, such as (but not limited to) food microbiology, industrial microbiology, bioremediation, or microbial ecology.
Recent evidence of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer reviewed publications and presentations.
Post-doctoral or other professional experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position.
Ability to teach the courses listed above in microbiology, food microbiology and microbial ecology.
Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
Teaching experience in microbiology, food microbiology, microbial ecology, or similar subjects.
Strong publication record for level of career development.
Committed to working with undergraduates and master's candidates.
Potential to conduct an independent research program.
Knowledge and experience in food microbiology.
Compatibility of research with Minnesota State University, Mankato's infrastructure.

The faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences at MSU, Mankato is committed to education and the use of research as an educational tool for undergraduate students and MS thesis students.
