The Environmental Science and Management (ESM) Department at Portland State University (PSU) is hiring a Non-Tenure Track Faculty (NTTF) member to provide instruction for a suite of courses for majors and non-majors. PSUNNTF faculty members are reviewed annually based on successful teaching and service and are eligible for Continuous Appointments after 6 years of full time employment, with 3-year reviews thereafter.
Responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of nine 4-credit courses during the three quarters of each academic year, participating in faculty meetings and activities, and serving on departmental or university committees.
A doctorate by the start of academic instruction in a field of specialization in environmental science, chemistry, biology, ecology, geology, or related environmental fields; Demonstrated proficiency teaching courses at the undergraduate level; Ability to teach a range of courses and work with diverse groups/populations; Background suitable for teaching the listed courses; Successful completion of a background check.
Experience in building partnerships with agencies, non-profits or other community partners; Experience developing and implementing inquiry-based curriculum for non-majors; Experience teaching online; Experience organizing and leading field trips.
