Teaching classes in Introduction to Engineering, Graphics, Circuits, Surveying, Statics, Materials, and Manufacturing Processes; working closely with K-12 and 4-year transfer institutions to enhance and promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study and careers before they enter college; and administering the course budget including the selection, purchase, installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software as well as other lab equipment and supplies. Teaching assignments may include a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings and weekends; curriculum and program development and/or revision, including program review and the development and assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs; communicating effectively with students and staff; developing technology used for classroom presentations; advising students; participating in college/district committees; participating in appropriate professional meetings and workshops; cooperating with regard to scheduling classes between colleagues in the same disciplines; participating in student recruiting activities; assist in the advancement of the institutional mission and goals; and otherwise fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Include an earned masters degree in any field of engineering; OR bachelors degree in any of the above and masters degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology; OR a valid California Community College credential; OR the equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency); AND demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Include classroom and laboratory teaching experience encompassing the breadth of courses taught, the use of a variety of pedagogies, and integrating educational technologies into classroom and laboratory instruction; related work and professional experience in engineering; and the administration of course budgets including the selection, purchase, installation and maintenance of computer and software as well as other lab equipment and supplies for the engineering courses.Preference shall be given to candidates who have degrees in or experience in surveying, civil engineering or geomatics engineering and that demonstrate an ability to design and implement innovative teaching methodologies based on engineering education research; who evidence a commitment to interacting and working successfully as a team with science instructors, laboratory technicians, and other colleagues; that express an enthusiasm for teaching and assisting students to succeed; have an ability to develop curriculum in emerging areas of engineering; exhibit the capacity to contribute to the total operation of the instructional program including Department, Division, and State Center Community College responsibilities; and who demonstrate an ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and a variety of teaching modalities including distance learning.

Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary is $54,029 $81,342 based on education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $2,021 is available. In addition, the District offers an attractive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, and life insurance. Employees are also members of the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
