DescriptionAs a Research Associate, you will be required to perform extensive fundamental research and analysis on companies in the Oil and Gas space. You will provide detailed financial modelling, acquire in-depth industry expertise and provide a rigorous level of fundamental company and industry analysis. You will also be expected to contribute to written product, interact with company management as well as equity sales, trading, and institutional clients, and broadly support the Senior Analyst and sector franchise. The associate role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the "right fit".Responsibilities:
Financial and operational modelling, including earnings and cash flow forecasts.
Prepare/ produce written reports around company and industry analysis, earnings results, presentations and recommendations to clients
Participate in company management interviews and communication to develop and maintain sources of information in preparation of analysis
Industry contact development and sector due diligence
Maintain marketing materials and presentations
Answer enquiries and communicate with sales and clients regarding stocks or industry groups
The successful candidate will be expected to eventually gain expertise in both the Oil and Gas industry and stock coverageExperience/SkillsA combination of technical knowledge and skills in finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and education experience is required. Candidates must have a clear and proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career. Further necessary attributes include:
1-2 years of prior experience in equity research, investment banking or management consulting within the Oil and Gas sector will be preferred.
Basic Accounting and Finance knowledge is expected. The candidate will also be expected to know valuation concepts.
An interest in investments and equity capital markets is crucial
Exposure to the Oil and Gas sector is not required but will be viewed positively
Solid Excel knowledge required.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Solid organisational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (writing samples may be required) EducationCandidates should have a strong undergraduate and/ or Master's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, geology or the sciences with several years of distinguished work experience. An MBA or MFin degree with excellent grades and/or ACA or CFA designation, or working towards their CFA, is also preferred).Important information:
