This position manages and maintains an extensive (over 500,000 images) collection of NASA photo-products, maps, electronic data, and related materials from the various space missions for the Brown/NASA Northeast Regional Data Center. These materials are used for research purposes by resident and visiting faculty, researchers, and students. The position involves working with members of the department,visitors, and the general public in a variety of outreach programs in order to promote knowledge of and access to this NASA collection focusing on planetary geology.
Bachelor's degree and 1 - 2 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated knowledge of science terminology
Strong organizational skills to curate the collection properly
Library experience is a plus
Well developed knowledge of computer software, including Word, Excel, Power Point, FileMaker, PageMaker, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and other Web editor(s).
Knowledge of ISIS desired, as well as experience designing and maintaining web sites, trouble shooting and working with Apple, Sun, and PC platforms
Some travel is required, with occasional weekend and evening hours
