This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Property Specialist 3 position for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position manages the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) asset inventory and surplus property programs, involving inventory listings, asset locations, loan agreements, inventory scans, and preparation for external property audits. It is expected that incumbent will become the college expert in this area. Acts as CEOAS main point of contact with OSU Surplus, OSU Printing and mailing and OSU Property Management.
This position is responsible for daily receipt and delivery of College freight, and also regularly checks condition and reports status of CEOAS office, lab, and storage/staging spaces. The incumbent works with CEOAS Operations and Facilities staff to prepare office and lab space for new faculty/staff, moves and assembles furniture, and prepares procurement requests and inputs as necessary for office/lab furniture and fittings.
The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is an internationally recognized leader in the study of the Earth as an integrated system. It operates numerous state-of-the art laboratories and three oceanographic research vessels, the 177-foot ocean-going Oceanus, the 84-foot coastal research vessel Pacific Storm, and the 54-foot coastal research vessel Elakha. The College has an annual budget of more than $50 million, with support coming from the National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other federal agencies. It has more than 100 faculty, 200 graduate students and 600 undergraduate students. Graduate programs include M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences; Geology; and Geography and a M.S. degree in Marine Resource Management. The college has undergraduate programs in Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences, with several minors and certificate programs.
Experience performing stores and inventory work; AND Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems, and transportation agencies and shipping methods.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite (or similar software) and email.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience providing service to a diverse customer base.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work cooperatively with others as a member of a team to identify solutions.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
On a daily basis, this position requires the ability to walk, stand, and work while bending and stooping for extended periods; work in environments containing dust, odor and varying levels of noise; work in tight and/or confined spaces; and to lift/push/pull/carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Duties may occasionally require the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and occasionally work from ladders, scaffolds or other above ground locations.
