Exemption: Exempt About Us The Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences (SE3) develops the knowledge and talent to understand the workings of the planet and to help solve resource and environmental challenges. Geophysics is a field that integrates geology, mathematics, and physics in order to understand how the Earth works. Geophysicists study Earth processes through a combination of laboratory experiments, computational and theoretical modeling, remote imaging, and direct observation.
The Department is seeking an experienced Research Administrator (RA) to join our collaborative team. The RA will play an integral role in the department supporting faculty, students and postdocs in their innovative research. The RA will be responsible for managing faculty portfolios including all tasks associated with pre- and post-award sponsored research activities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience managing research awards and budgets; a strong customer-service ethic; be detail oriented; be an excellent communicator; be creative and resourceful; and have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines. We are looking for someone to interact well with our current administrative team in a culturally diverse environment.
Your Responsibilities may include:
Initiate, complete, and submit contract and grant proposals on behalf of Principal Investigators (PIs) to the university's Office of Sponsored Research (OSR).
Review and approve expenditures, advise on post award spending and commitment activity, and oversee compliance related to fund and revenue.
Develop and communicate reports supporting project status; create forecasting models, scenarios, and decision aides.
Manage contract closeout process and audit inquiries.
Monitor and advise PI on entire financial portfolio.

To be successful in this position, you will need: Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and five years of job related experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert knowledge and fluency of governmental regulations (e.g. FAR, A-21, A-110, A-133, CAS).
Knowledge and ability to understand, interpret, and communicate university policies and procedures.
Excellent analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency in Excel and web-based tools.
Strong accounting skills; knowledge of accounting principles.
