Salary Range: CSU Salary Range: $2,600 - $4,458 per month (Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,000 - $3,400 per month) This position is paid under the 11/12 pay plan, where salary for 11 months is distributed over 12 months with a month off (with pay, benefits, and vacation/sick leave accrual continuing through months off).
The Physics Department is a major academic unit within the College of Science and Mathematics. The Department offers two degrees, the Physics BS and the Physics BA, and minors in Astronomy, Geology and Physics. It also offers courses in Astronomy, Geology, Physics, and Physical Science. The courses satisfy Physics requirements for other academic majors and meet general education and breadth requirements for Cal Poly's entire student population. Currently, the Department has an enrollment of approximately 180 majoring undergraduate students. The Department is comprised of a rotating Chair, 21 tenured faculty, 11 tenure-track faculty, 15 full-time lecturers, a few part-time faculty, 5 volunteers, 3 technical support staff, and 2 administrative support staff.
Under general supervision of the Department Chair, the Administrative Support Assistant (ASA) provides clerical and administrative support to the Department. The incumbent provides the first contact for students, faculty, staff, parents and the public. The incumbent is responsible for providing the faculty with the materials and services they need in order to teach their classes and recommending new and improved processes and procedures for the front office operation.

High school diploma or its equivalent. Type 45 wpm. Three years of general office support experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.)

Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date. Employment of retired CalPERS members will typically be for 90 days or less and must be for work requiring specialized skills or for a bona fide emergency to prevent stoppage of business.
