RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTIONS Classroom Work
• The Math/Science teacher is responsible for working with 10/11 year olds. The math curriculum includes arithmetic, a rational number study, statistics, problem solving, and geometry. The focus of the science course is a study of force, motion, and simple machines, exploring variables as a function of experimental design, and a study of geology. The teacher must have background in a materials-based discovery approach to mathematics and/or science and be sensitive to individual needs within the group teaching. • Teachers are expected to create a learning environment that is consistent with developmental educational theory and practice. • In working with children and evaluating their work, teachers are expected to consider their social-emotional growth as well as their intellectual development. Teachers write comprehensive reports on children twice each year.
Work with Adults
