Holy Names University invites applications for a part-time, adjunct faculty position in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences for Fall Semester 2019, beginning August 21, 2019.
Candidates will be expected to teach Fundamentals of Physical Science (PHSC 15). It is an introduction to the basic concepts of physics, chemistry, and other physical sciences. Topics include motion, forces, energy, heat, atomic theory, periodic table, physical and chemical properties of matter, chemical reactions, selections from nuclear reactions, the universe, stellar evolution, the structure of Earth, and other subjects in physical science. Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1:30pm-2:45pm. Salary for the semester per 3-unit course is $3,914.
QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must possess a M.S. or have completed extensive doctoral training. Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate and experience teaching introductory physics, or a related field, such as: geology, astronomy, physical science, etc., at the college level. The successful candidate will have the ability to engage a diverse community of learners, effectively implement innovative inquiry-based pedagogy, and use technology to support student learning.
