The Department of Geological Sciences at Central Washington University invites applications for a 9-month full-time Lecturer position in Sedimentology/Stratigraphy, Historical Geology and general geology beginning September 16, 2019. The person hired will teach an average of 15 credit hours per quarter (2-3 courses), including a combination of introductory and intermediate-level undergraduate courses. The department has approximately 75 undergraduate majors and 20 Master’s degree graduate students, and offers a BS and BA in Geology, a BS in Environmental Geological Sciences, a Geology specialization in Environmental Sciences, and an MS in Geological Sciences. Master’s degree in Geological Sciences or related field
Demonstrated teaching potential
Expertise in sedimentology, stratigraphy and historical geology suitable to teaching those courses
Evidence of the potential to be a dynamic instructor who can engage a diversity of students
Demonstrated commitment to working with a multi-cultural population and adherence to the university philosophy supporting diversity
Ph.D. in Geological Sciences or related field
Demonstrated teaching experience in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Historical Geology
Potential to teach an introductory majors’ course in Quantitative Reasoning for Geoscientists
