General departmental research equipment maintenance
Coordinate planning and implementation of remodeling and moving projects
Coordinate and supervise all health and safety compliance programs
Inventory chemicals and ensure compliance with storage, documentation and use requirements
Instruct students and faculty on operation of research instrumentation and equipment
Supervise and coordinate storage and organization of department technical supplies and equipment
Specify and implement purchase of computers and other IT-related equipment
Interface with ITCS in maintenance and provisioning of student computer lab and additional student computing needs
Specify and order software and peripheral hardware for student computer lab
Record and track software licenses
Specify, purchase and maintain microscopes
Specify, purchase, maintain, operate, and train in use of x-ray analytical equipment
Maintain and train in use of sample preparation equipment
Pilot small boats used in research projects and teaching field trips
Interface with Facilities Services regarding building and vehicle maintenance
Supervise some student workers
Ensure adherence to procedures and work standards
Supervise inventory compliance procedures
Specify, implement and maintain water purification systems
Supervise SHRA employee
Develop, supervise, train in use of, and implement core drilling systems
Develop, supervise, train in use of and implement well installation systems
Design, acquire and supervise installation of Geologic exhibits and displays
Organize and implement archiving of core samples and research and teaching specimens
Oversee closeout of research space and disposition of geologic materials used in research
Troubleshoot maintain and repair specialized analytical equipment.
Periodically teach the department van driver safety course
Perform small facility upgrades
Construct Laboratory apparatus
