The Geology & Geophysics Department has multiple openings for the 2019 Summer period (April - September 2019). These positions are temporary, casual, non-exempt, and are not eligible for benefits.
JOB SUMMARY & SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Packing & unpacking containers
Organizing mechanical and electrical supplies
General clean-up including washing laboratory glassware
Lab Assistant I/II:
Light mechanical/electrical assembly required
Organizing lab work areas
May assist in collection and preparation of samples or data
May be using CAD
May perform other project specific duties and complete other general task oriented functions as required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Part-time Helper Level*- Working towards a High School Diploma. High School lab experience/STEM courses are helpful.
Lab Assistant I Level*- High School Diploma or equivalent. CAD familiarity is desired.
Lab Assistant II Level- High School Diploma with some relevant lab experience. CAD familiarity is desired.
All Levels- Basic computer skills and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks are required for all positions.
*Position level will be based on the selected candidates' education and experience.
Physical duties for this position include but are not limited to occasional/prolonged standing/walking, repetitive motion (using the computer & general office equipment), and use of hands for basic grasping and basic/fine manipulation. Visual requirements to include depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors. Communication requirements include ability to hear and talk to others, on the phone and in-person; working around and with others. This position may be exposed to dust or other irritants and grease & oils. Physical duties are subject to change.
