The Nicholas School of the Environment (NSOE) at Duke University invites applications for a faculty position in Near-surface Geology and Geophysics. This is one of four areas of interestfor two tenure-track Assistant Professorships that NSOE plans to fill in the natural sciences. We seek an outstanding and visionary candidate who uses geologic and geophysical approaches to characterize subsurface energy, mineral, and/or water resources, or to elucidate geologic conditions that could lead to natural or anthropogenically induced geohazards. Successful candidates are expected to develop an externally funded and nationally recognized research program, teach and mentor undergraduate, professional and graduate students, and engage in service within NSOE, the University, and in the broader scientific community. Successful candidates are also expected to demonstrate a commitment to advancing excellence through diversity and inclusion.
