Under direction of the chairs of the Department of Geology and Department of Environmental Science, this position encompasses the performance of a wide variety of clerical services and other related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports both the Department of Geology and Department of Environmental Science by maintaining supplies, departmental records, assisting with adjunct and overload contracts, assisting with research stipends, and monitoring processes for hiring and paying of student workers, and other clerical duties as assigned.
Maintains teaching load and course schedule information for both departments. Coordinates the efforts of the chairs, faculty, and staff in the two departments.
Assists chairs with their calendars, correspondence, memoranda, financial statements, departmental reports, and payroll.
Provides information, according to University policy, in person and by telephone when asked; answers telephone and takes messages.
Assists chairs and other faculty with managing departmental funds (operational, sponsored projects, and special funds), posting requisitions, handling invoices, receiving orders and related information, and the processing of travel forms.
Experience with computers, Banner, and Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge and experience with standard office practices, operations, and equipment.
Ability to understand online databases and resource databases.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact in a cordial, professional manner with faculty, staff, students, and members of the public.
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
Self-motivated and capable of self-directed work, when necessary.
Given the nature of the School of Earth & Environment, the ability and willingness to work outdoors, on occasion, at school, department, or fossil park events.
Candidates will be required to take and pass a typing test at 25 wpm or higher or show proof of passing a NJ Civil Service Commission or Rowan University typing test in the past. The test will only be scheduled for candidates selected for interview.
Range A06 ($28,484-$32,134)
