Position Summary: The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to begin January 2020, who is interested in the microbe-mineral interactions, geobiology, and the co-evolution of the geosphere and biosphere. The best suited candidate will be expected to have expertise in geomicrobiology, isotope geochemistry, and microbial genetics. This candidate will be expected to participate in the configuration and maintenance of instrumentation necessary for conduct of the project. It is expected that research will lead to publications and will be expected to prepare manuscripts as well as contribute to the preparation of grant and fellowship applications. The candidate will also be expected to train and mentor undergraduates in scientific research projects. Minimum Education and Experience: Candidates must have completed a doctoral (Ph.D) level program in Geological Sciences, Microbial Biology or a related field before January 2020. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas: geomicrobiology, isotope geochemistry, geochemical modeling, or microbial genetics. The candidates are expected to be proficient in spoken and written English. Equipment Utilized: Laboratory environment. Universal precautions are mandatory. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Computer data input required. Ability to perform bench-laboratory experiments and use computing resources.
