A non-tenure track appointment is available on August 1, 2021, at the rank of Lecturer in the Division of Science at IUPUC. The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with responsibility for teaching four sections each semester and engaging in service activities at the campus. Applicants should enjoy interacting with students, faculty, and staff who are committed to making a difference in the future of our region. We seek greater diversity in our faculty and staff to broaden students' academic experience and to enrich our campus community. Candidates must be sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working in an academic community that is diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or identity, disability status, and protected veteran status.
REQUIREMENTS: The division seeks highly qualified candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates should have a master's degree or Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy or a closely related field. Successful candidates should have a record of high-quality teaching in introductory physical science courses. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability and interest to work with a diverse student population. Candidates should have the desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important.
PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in more than one of the fields listed above. For example, an astronomer with the ability to teach introductory physics or a chemist with enough inorganic knowledge to teach some geology courses. These are just examples; any overlap in specialties is preferred.
