The goal of the Logistic National Business Development Manager - Logistics Sector is to build the Terracon geotechnical, environmental, facilities and materials consulting services within the Logistic Sector. This sector encompasses clients involved with the development and/or operations of Warehouse/Distribution, Ports, Intermodal Facilities and Trucking companies.
This role will be responsible for business/client development activities which will contribute to the growth and development of the Logistics Sector. In this role, you will identify, assess, develop and close on project opportunities and strategic clients for growth and develop those clients into National Accounts when appropriate. The National Manager will also work with existing Managers to expand services and revenue generated from existing clients.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the vision to promote profitability and growth of the Logistics Business Sector consistent with the overall strategic plans of the company.
Serve as a senior project manager for key projects overseeing and coordinating resources from multiple service lines and offices across the company.
Manage new client development and grow sales for defined group of existing clients including diversification of service provided.
Provide consulting and insight to both internal staff and external clients in your area of technical expertise.
Provide technical direction and oversight of project scopes and performance for a variety of practice areas within the Logistics Business sector to enhance the client experience.
Promote sharing of “best practices” between offices, divisions, and operating groups.
Assist in developing and implementing internal training programs to continually improve the depth of our technical capabilities across the Logistic sector.
Develop and deliver client presentations as part of relationship development and business development activities and/or qualifications and proposal presentation/interview teams.
Be active/visible in national trade associations related to the Logistics Business Sector and our clients/potential clients.
Direct the efforts of the largest project client pursuits including proposal strategy, facilitation of client interaction, positioning Terracon to win and close the sale.
Develop and monitor safety practices for sector activities in Divisions or Operating Groups. Holds Offices, Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines and develops safety plans and establishes goals for a safe working environment for Logistic Sector Projects. Sets the example for others to follow.
Oversee the Company commitment to quality control standards. Establish quality objectives and policy. Monitor continuous improvement programs. Hold internal stakeholders accountable for quality standards and improving levels of quality on projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or Business, Marketing and 15 years’ related experience.
Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Demonstrated technical expertise and knowledge of the Logistics Business Sector clients and projects.
Experience in working with Port Authorities and/or Trucking industry is highly desirable
Demonstrated experience in building and growing related business and services and managing profitable operations.
Demonstrated experience in influencing peers and superiors to achieve positive change in the absence of a direct reporting obligation.
Strong business development and client management experience and skills
Professional License in area of specialty or discipline.
Demonstrated experience in project management that achieves successful project outcomes including financial, technical, client and safety objectives.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
