As a Senior Landman at Weyerhaeuser your primary responsibility will be the negotiation and management of all oil and gas agreements (leases, option, permits) on Weyerhaeuser’s 11 million mineral acres, underlying our timberlands in the continental United States.  This position can be based in numerous locations where we operate but preference would be the Southeast US.   (Atlanta, GA, Seattle, WA, Hattiesburg, MS, Ruston/Hammond, LA, Hot Springs, AR)

In this role, you will be an integral part of Weyerhaeuser’s Energy & Natural Resources group responsible for the management of all subsurface mineral and natural resources opportunities on our ownership, including construction materials, industrial minerals, renewable energy and oil and gas. Specifically, you will be part of the Oil & Gas Team and be responsible for all oil and gas inquiries and offers, primarily leasing, on Weyerhaeuser mineral ownership. You will work closely with the Oil and Gas Team to evaluate offers and negotiate deals. In addition, this position will be highly involved in Weyerhaeuser’s growing Carbon Capture and Sequestration business.

You will also work closely the corporate legal team to ensure all oil and gas agreements are aligned with corporate requirements. This position will collaborate with the Oil and Gas Team to manage the sale of non-strategic mineral and royalty assets. You will also support Real Estate and Timberlands divestitures, to ensure the preservation of our mineral rights. This role requires not only excellent industry knowledge and expertise, but also strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills to meet objectives for your areas of responsibility.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Negotiates and manages oil and gas agreements (leases, options, permits) on Weyerhaeuser lands.
• Coordinates lease requests from outside companies, and collaborates with the Oil and Gas technical Team to evaluate
• the geologic potential and maximize deal terms.
• Collaborates with Energy & Natural Resources Operations Team in evaluating performance of and compliance with existing contract terms.
• Works closely with the corporate legal team to ensure that agreements are in alignment with changing laws and regulatory requirements.
• Manages mineral/royalty acquisitions and divestitures and collaborates with Oil and Gas Team regarding valuations and recommendations.
• Manages prescribing and severed minerals in Louisiana.
• Works with Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Team to ensure preservation of mineral assets.
• Partners with the Oil and Gas Team for the creation of annual budgets and strategic plans.
• Responsible for the attainment of annual leasing goals and financial objectives within area of responsibility.
• Displays strong excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
