The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science is seeking a Research Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
Provides high-level project management and administration for multiple externally funded, large or complex research projects within CEOAS. The Research Program Coordinator will assist PI's and research project teams with effective operation of all project activities.
The Research Program Coordinator directs and assists the project leadership and technical team in the areas of contract management, support of research needs and to achieve programmatic outcomes. Directs and coordinates internal and external project reviews and reports, managing project document hierarchy and archiving, and assisting with organization of outreach activities. Serves as a liaison with faculty, the program technical team, staff, students and the general public. Develops correspondence, reports, memoranda, and minutes that translate project outcomes into communication and manages larger group-meeting logistics, both on and off-site. The Research Program Coordinator manages activities in order to handle the critical issues dealt with both in the presence and absence of the team leads and for the project team (including faculty, subcontractors, technical advisors, and other staff).
The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is internationally recognized as a leader in the study of the Earth as an integrated system. It operates numerous state-of-the art laboratories and two oceanographic research vessels. The College has annual research expenditures of more than $50 million, with much of the research support coming from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and other federal agencies. It has over 100 faculty, 200 graduate students and approximately 700 undergraduate students. Graduate programs include a Master's degree in Marine Resource Management; and Master's and PhD degrees in Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences; Geology; and Geography. The new undergraduate program in Earth Sciences, together with the Environmental Sciences Undergraduate Program, provide educational and research opportunities for the best undergraduate students: a national honors college for the Earth.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to program area. 3 years' experience providing administrative support to a program or office.
Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Two years of demonstrated project management, project coordination and/or advanced administrative support experience.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate, prioritize, manage, and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and recommendations which align with policies, and act as a resource to a wide variety of constituents.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead within the organization.
Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
Advanced computing skills, including mastery of MS Office Suite and Adobe, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, other scheduling applications, e-mail applications, and Adobe Acrobat.
Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with proven discretion and diplomacy.
Must be self-sufficient and able to make decisions independently.
Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
