Assistant Researcher: Cosmochemistry University of California Los Angeles

The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles, seeks applicants for an Assistant Researcher. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in the geological sciences.
The person hired will conduct research on meteorites and lunar samples. The incumbent shall generate analytical data regarding elemental and isotopic compositions of appropriate samples and shall use these data to model the crystallization of iron meteorites and the implications of lunar zircons for understanding the evolutionary histories of asteroids and the Moon. Demonstrated experience with iron-meteorite petrology and chemistry and with isotopic dating of lunar rocks and minerals are essential. A Ph.D. in the geological sciences or closely allied fields is required. Work is to be carried out in collaboration with UCLA planetary scientists.
