Part-Time Visiting Faculty Position in Biology (Geoscience)
Description The Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting part-time faculty appointment in the area of Geoscience for Spring 2024 to begin January 2024. This visitor will teach one section of Introduction to Geology and its associated laboratory (GEOS 150). In addition to fulfilling a natural science credit, Introduction to Geology is a key course in our Environmental Studies curriculum and is required for the Geosciences minor.
The Department of Biology is committed to providing support and mentorship of our visiting faculty to ensure future success within their chosen career path. The successful candidate will be provided with significant mentorship in the introductory geology laboratory course, as well as mentoring in their continued scholarship efforts, as appropriate. There are no required service or scholarship expectations in this position. The geosciences within the Department of Biology at Holy Cross consists of one full-time geoscience faculty member, several biologists whose expertise intersects with the Earth sciences, and an exceptional teaching space for Introduction to Geology. Qualifications A Ph.D. in geology or closely related discipline is preferred but ABD candidates in such fields will be considered. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
