Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.
Additional Department Summary: The Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in groundwater hydrology. The candidate will be advised by Dr. Prabhakar Clement.
Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity and the availability of funds.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Sciences, or a related field. Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: High level of achievement in publishing high-quality research data for solving hydrological problems. Strong computer programming background, knowledge of advanced numerical mathematics, knowledge of groundwater and soil moisture transport models, and experience in using GIS tools for hydrological modeling.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability in technical writing, experience working on laboratory and field projects, and basic understanding of machine learning tools.
