FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Earth & Physical Sciences at York College of the City University of New York is seeking to fill a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with specialization in the area of geology.
Successful applicants will be expected to teach hard rock geology, structure and field geology, and lower level general geology courses. The successful candidate isexpected to develop a vigorous externally funded research program integrated with excellence in teaching within the earth and physical science curriculum, including upper level electives in the candidate's area of expertise. QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years experience preferred, expertise in structure, igneous & metamorphic petrology, optical mineralogy, and/or tectonics preferred. A track record of undergraduate teaching and research capabilities is desired. Experience in student mentoring and/or industrial or governmental sectors preferred.

$67,072 - $90,375 - Salary commensurate with education and experience
