The position is associated with the project entitled Modeling Earth from Atomic to Global Scale (MINERALS) funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The successful candidate will use the mantle convection code ASPECT to better understand the chemical composition and dynamics of Earth's interior. Convection simulations will be run using input from ab initio mineral physics calculations and seismic tomography in close collaboration with other researchers on this project. Output from simulations will be compared to surface observations.
Experience in modeling mantle convection or other geodynamic processes using ASPECT or a comparable code is required, as well as advanced programming skills.
