The Department of Physics at Rutgers University – Camden invites a diverse group of applicants for a full-time faculty position to begin on September 1, 2023. The tenure-track position is open-rank at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level to scientists whose research interests focus on issues related to Sustainability. We are particularly interested in individuals whose sustainability research stems from one of the following areas: energy, materials, or geophysics. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Physics, or other closely related fields. Candidates should have a track-record, in teaching, research, funding, service, and mentorship, commensurate with the academic rank that they wish to receive.

The new hire is expected to establish an independent research program that will attract external funding. They are also expected to teach courses in physics (and geological sciences) at the undergraduate level. The Department of Physics at Rutgers-Camden is an undergraduate only program however most of the faculty have appointments on affiliated masters and doctoral-level programs.

This search is part of larger cluster hire at Rutgers-Camden in the area of sustainability and is supported by funds from the Rutgers Presidential Diversity Hiring Initiative. As such, the successful candidate is also expected to be an active participant in the sustainability cluster and its associated activities such as program development across and community awareness. The possibility of a senior leadership role in the cluster is available.
