The result of this education is improvement of their chances for successful re-entry into society and the acquisition of meaningful employment.The successful candidates must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency. Â The successful candidates must be willing to teach within a correctional setting; some travel will be required with access to a state vehicle or mileage compensation.Â This is a part-time teaching position in Laboratory Sciences. Classes taught may be day, night and/or weekends and may be seated or hybrid. Classes will be located in one or more of the following correctional centers:Lunenburg Correctional CenterNottoway Correctional CenterBaskerville Correctional CenterVirginial Correctional Center for WomenState Farm Correctional Center*Others may be availablePositions may be available in spring, summer or fall semester.Â Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and up to 8 credit hours for the summer session.Â Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs.
Established in 1970, SVCC is one of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. The Christanna Campus near Alberta and the John H. Daniel Campus near Keysville serve ten counties and one city - the largest community college service region in the state. In 1985, SVCC opened the Southside Virginia Education Center. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate degrees. SVCC is dedicated to the belief that all citizens should be given an opportunity to acquire an educational foundation which develops and extends their skills and knowledge. The college's goal is to provide diverse instructional programs ranging from developmental studies to associate degree curricula in academic, technical, and lifelong education. Through various activities, students will also have the opportunity to develop their roles and responsibilities as participants in a changing society.
